Management Team
Tralance O. Addy, Ph.D: Founder and President
Tralance Addy is founder and President of Plebys
International. During a previous corporate career
spanning more than 25 years in both US and international
markets, he earned a reputation and recognition as an
entrepreneurial and visionary leader with a highly
successful track record in the development and
commercialization of technology and breakthrough
businesses. Prior to Plebys Dr. Addy was an
International Vice President of global health-care
leader Johnson & Johnson (J&J). During his 20+ year
career with J&J he held other senior executive positions
including Worldwide President of Advanced Sterilization
Products (ASP), a Johnson & Johnson subsidiary he
founded and established within the corporation. Tralance
led the development, commercialization, and rapid growth
of ASP to be a market segment leader covering over 40
countries around the world. He earlier was Vice
President of R&D for Johnson & Johnson Medical, Inc,
J&J’s Professional Sector subsidiary. He was a member of
that company’s Global Management Committee.
Tralance led the acquisition of WaterHealth
International, Inc (WHI) by Plebys and, serving as
President and CEO of WHI, he was the primary architect
in transforming that technology start-up into a
path-breaking company to provide affordable clean water
to both urban and rural populations. Employing a
scalable commercial model based on an integrated total
system and services offering, WHI quickly gained
recognition as an emerging market innovation leader in
addressing the critical need for clean water in
underserved areas around the world.
Tralance earned BA and BS degrees in chemistry and
engineering simultaneously from Swarthmore College,
Pennsylvania. He subsequently earned MS and PhD degrees
in engineering from the University of Massachusetts at
Amherst. He is a graduate of the Advanced Management
Program of the Harvard Business School. He holds 14 U.S.
and numerous international patents, from technology
innovations and inventions developed over his career,
and is a Fellow of the American Institute of Medical and
Biological Engineering.
Among his professional and civic leadership roles,
Tralance remains a member of the board of directors of
WHI and has served on the boards of Phyto-Riker
Pharmaceuticals in Ghana, the Center for Sustainable
Enterprise of UNC’s Kenan-Flagler Business School, the
Sickle Cell Association of America, The United Way of
Orange County, CA, Johns Hopkins Center for Talented
Youth, and Swarthmore College’s Board of Managers.
Kenneth G. Clarke, PhD: Vice-President, Secretary and Manager
Kenneth Clarke is Vice-President, Secretary and
Manager of Plebys International. His 15 years of
managerial experience and analytical expertise has
crossed global regulatory, R&D and academic settings. As
a Senior Manager in Global Regulatory Affairs at
Allergan, Inc., he managed the development and
international post-approval regulatory activities for
their biologics portfolio including BOTOX®. Prior to
this, he managed Allergan’s R&D group of non-clinical
statisticians supporting drug discovery, development,
and safety as well as global technical operations.
Prior to joining Allergan, Dr. Clarke was a
Biostatistician at the City of Hope National Medical
Center and Beckman Research Institute in California.
There he managed the Biostatistics core of NIH-funded
grants.
Kenneth earned his PhD in Biometry from the Department
of Preventative Medicine at the University of Southern
California. He had previously received an MS degree in
Pure Mathematics from the University of Toronto as well
as a BS degree in Pure Mathematics from the University
of Western Ontario, Canada where he was awarded the
Kingston Gold medal for Mathematics in his graduating
year. Kenneth is fluent in French and a current student
of Danish.
Jo Alison Phears Addy: Vice-President, Communications and Administrative Affairs
Jo Alison Addy is the Founder and Managing Director
of ALSWEBTM BUSINESS ADVANTAGE, LLC, an advisory service
to individuals and groups launching businesses that are
global in scope and socially innovative in orientation.
A corporate strategist and international economist, her
experience includes risk oversight for commercial bank
portfolios and responsibilities for development
portfolios at the World Bank. Jo has extensive
communications and public relations experience, and has
served as a corporate spokesperson to international
audiences. She has created and published in-house
financial periodicals and is the author of articles and
studies for Harvard University’s Center for Business and
Government, RAND Corporation and the National Planning
Association. As co-founder and Business Director for
Plebys, she has managed the company’s operations and its
board and investor affairs. She has led and served on
community social, educational and philanthropic boards.
Jo earned a BA with honors from Smith College in
Massachusetts and an MBA from Adelphi University in New
York. She achieved Doctoral Candidacy in economics from
Stanford University where she was awarded a grant from
the Center for Research in International Studies and
recently received an MPA with specialization in
corporate governance from Harvard University. Widely
traveled, Jo is fluent in French and a student of
Mandarin Chinese.
